Here’s a little formula for you math lovers.

Writer + Reader/Watcher + Opinionated = Reviewer

Well, it’s true for me. Here you will find two kinds of reviews, both updated either regularly or semi-regularly – it is not yet clear which. One is anime reviews. Yes, I’m a watcher, though I gravitate to the more mature, intellectual ones (by which I largely mean to please not even think of me and Sailor Moon in the same sentence). If this makes your eyebrows raise, allow me to politely suggest that you have perhaps not tried the ones I have. If you have been wondering why anyone intelligent would watch foreign cartoons, then I doubly welcome you to the anime reviews section, and hope they will be of help to you. Perhaps they will even change your mind.

The book reviews are all presently part of a line called The Bottom Shelf, presenting excellent books, mostly fantasy, mostly for the eight to fourteen year old range, that are not loudly acclaimed, and that are therefore easily missed. Harry Potter has opened the eyes of many children to both fantasy and reading. My hope is to provide fuel to encourage that.

Anime Reviews: Ongoing Collection.
Reviews on various anime I have watched, both positive and negative. Are also available at Boontan.net, where I am a staff member (all of the anime reviewed are also available there for download, either in the free or donor’s section).

Book Reviews: The Bottom Shelf, Ongoing
Reviews of various books I consider both worthy of attention and sadly lacking it. Includes such excellent but undervalued unknowns as the novel of One Hundred and One Dalmatians and Susan Cooper’s Seaward (author of The Dark Is Rising).

- Z.N. Singer : SHOW DON'T TELL...ah, forget it. This person claims to collect the true best in his favorites list but...uh uh. I'm not getting anything this way.
- Z.N. Singer : How have these people gone so long without learning about little subtleties like punctuation?
- Z.N. Singer : Which eliminates at least forty percent of all entries on FF
- Z.N. Singer : I swear, any story whose summary starts 'what if' is guaranteed to have no skill in it.
- Z.N. Singer : Run on sentences galore. Show don't tell, your narrative sounds like a freakin' list or something.
- Z.N. Singer : Scanning fanfics for new additions to the collection for the first time in a while. Oh yes, *that's* why I keep avoiding it. Oh for heavens sake, dont' SAY flashback when you're having one! If you can't make a natural transition then please just go and try your hand at basketball or something.
- Z.N. Singer : Chapter Eighteen is UP.
- Z.N. Singer : Unless I was to finally post something that didn't quite meet my own standards. But there's no way I'd start doing that now.
- Z.N. Singer : So close. At last. Just a little farther, and I'll have finally gotten this part done right, and chapter eighteen's long overdue debut will come. I apologize, though it could not be helped and was not my fault.
- Z.N. Singer : Yes - GOT IT. Finally got it - the scene and sentiments finally delivered convincingly. Whew.
- Z.N. Singer : A little too late I see ^_^. Well, I'm glad you came here, I really hate FF's formatting. Make a comment or two - they're open to all! A particular scene in eighteen proved very hard to get right and has delayed things considerably but I hope to put it up - today. Fingers crossed.
